A Chance to Hear From Leaders Who Led

5/15/2026

Across the country, we still continue hearing that shifting to healthier school start times is “too complicated,” “too disruptive,” or "too costly" for the particular community in question. But districts that have actually made the change tell a very different story.

A recent webinar hosted by RASNC, an SSL affiliate, featured seven superintendents who have already implemented later start times. Their experiences cut through the myths and show what’s possible when leaders treat student well‑being as a priority rather than an afterthought.

What stands out in this hour-long webinar is not just
that these districts succeeded, but how real leaders who make this change a prioirty can turn what is supposedly impossible into what is clearly possible.

It didn't take magic. It didn't take extraordinary luck. It took vision, courage, and a willingness to rethink long‑standing assumptions.

More than anything, it took getting priorities straight.

These superintendents faced the same pushback and perceived obstacles that every district cites—transportation, athletics, staffing, and myriad otherr community concerns—and still found solutions that worked.

Their message is unmistakable: later start times aren’t aspirational. They’re achievable, sustainable, and transformative when leaders choose to lead.
