Welcome to Start School Later Birmingham, MI!
Julie Wagner is a parent of students in the Birmingham Public Schools District in Michigan. She decided to launch the third local chapter in Michigan
after watching the Race to Nowhere documentary. In the 2012-2013 school year, the Birmingham Public Schools Strategic Planning Committee outlined the following strategy in their 2014-2018 Strategic Plan: "Implement a school day structure for students which considers time, length of day, and year." Sadly, there has not been measurable progress made on the strategy. To get in touch with Julie and the Birmingham, MI local chapter of Start School Later, fill out the form on this page or contact us by leaving a message on our Facebook page. |

"I firmly believe a later start is the right thing to do, and am hopeful future students will be as shocked to hear school used to start at 7:30 a.m., as current students are shocked to hear smoking was allowed at school."
