Adolescent Sleep Expert Speakers
Below is a list of adolescent sleep experts available to present and/or consult with area school districts on the science related to healthy sleep and school start times.
Behavioral Sleep Medicine Associates, LLC
Dr. Jacqueline Kloss is a licensed clinical psychologist at Bryn Mawr Psychological Associates. Her expertise is in behavioral sleep medicine, helping individuals learn cognitive and behavioral strategies to overcome their sleep problems. Over the past three years she has actively served on Radnor Township School District’s “Sleep and School Start Time” Committee.
Dr. Amanda Finegold Swain is a board-certified family medicine physician. She has a special interest in sleep health and has done training in behavioral sleep medicine including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. In addition, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania and works on curriculum development at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.

Brad Wolgast, PhD, CBSM
Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine

Special Areas of Interest: Connecting communities and engaging groups in mental health awareness, healthy and unhealthy sleep, anxiety, social justice, and training new psychologists.
Brad grew up with a sleep disorder that made staying awake in high school a serious challenge. He has developed expertise treating sleep disorders over fifteen years as a psychologist, and has been board certified in Behavior Sleep Medicine since 2012. He is the Director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development at the University of Delaware where he works to help people respect sleep for the powerful recovery tool that it is. Brad lives in Media, PA and both of his children attended Strath Haven High School. Brad is passionate about helping students, parents, faculty and school boards understand the importance of allowing for and encouraging healthy sleep for healthier, safer, happier people.

Troxel holds a Ph.D. in clinical/health psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Wendy Troxel is a senior behavioral and social scientist at the RAND Corporation and an adjunct faculty member in psychiatry and psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist. Troxel is internationally recognized for her work on sleep in couples, how sleep affects health and the global economy, and how social environments, including public policy affects sleep.
Troxel has received several awards and honors for her research from national and international scientific societies, and her work has been published in top-tier medical and psychological journals. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and private corporations and foundations. She is also an active clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based, behavioral (non-pharmacologic) treatments for sleep disorders. She has held leadership roles in several professional sleep societies, including the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society.
