Arlington is one of six suburbs of Shelby County that have created municipal school districts.
The 2010 US Census showed that Arlington is the 2nd fastest growing community in the State of Tennessee. Currently, Arlington has three school start times. While the Middle School opens at 9 a.m. and the district’s two elementary schools — Arlington and Donelson — start classes at 8 a.m., the high school starts at 7 a.m., which is outside of the healthy range recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
