Howard County is transitioning to an elected school board based on councilmanic districts (five seats) plus two at-large positions in 2020. The student member of the board is elected by peers in a separate process. The two top vote earners in the 2018 election (Chao Wu and Vicky Cutroneo) will occupy the at-large seats, with terms expiring in 2022.
